Get to Know The Translation Industry Through Kuliah Umum “Peranan Jurusan Sastra Inggris Dalam Industri Penerjemahan Di Indonesia”

Translation is an activity to change the work of literature from a foreign language to the language we use. For example, changing the novel in English into Indonesian. In 2015, translation began to open wide in Indonesia. At this time, translation has become a job. Translation works have been widely distributed in Indonesia.

This public lecture took place on Monday, October 22, 2018 in the Seminar Room, Faculty of Humanities, Andalas University. This course aims to introduce the translation industry and the role of English Department students in the translation industry. The speaker presented was Anton Kurnia, a writer and translation practitioner.

The event starts at 09:30 and begins with the opening by the Master of Ceremony (MC). Then, there is also a story telling by one of the English Literature students. The core program was opened by a moderator. Anton Kurnia, as the speaker explained about what was needed by a translator and works that had been translated by Indonesian people. The event is closed with a photo session.
